New students will learn the use of basic materials - brush, ink stone, ink stick and paper. They will be introduced to the four foundation skills, Bamboo, Plum Blossom, Orchid and Chrysanthemum. If you understand how to use a manual SLR camera, want to learn about NIGHT photography and how to handle low lighting conditions then this course is for you. You'll learn what equipment you need, how time of day affects your shots and what makes particular photos appealing to your viewer. The field trip will give beginners and experienced photographers the opportunity to be closely guided by a professional photographer. Bonita will provide assistance on an individual basis with camera settings, composition, moods, lighting, creative expression and how to capture what your eye sees. This class will not cancel due to weather. All levels of photographers are welcomed. Registration is limited. Class meets 9/12 and 9/26. A field trip is scheduled for Sunday, 9/23 with an individual critique of photographs to follow. Field trip optional but highly recommended. A 48 Hour cancellation is required.

"Once Upon A Time" - 243081

Learn the making of photos that have emotional impact. This is a challenging and creative endeavor that will expand your way of expressing yourself. The images must represent the photographer's view through the lens and not the tools of Photoshop. Details and topic ideas will be given at the first meeting. All levels of photographers and all types of cameras are welcome. All students are invited to display their work in an exhibit in New York scheduled for June, 2019 if desired. Students do not have to participate in the exhibition to take this class.
Class meets 8/6 & 9/17 from 6:30-8:30P for meeting and critiquing at 48 Natoma. Photo shoots held on 8/18 & 9/9 from 10:00A-2:00P; location and time TBA (Field trips will be within one to two hours of Sacramento). Field trip not mandatory but highly recommended.

Ghost Town Excursion in Black & White and Color - 248832

Lets experience a photo opportunity into the past, learning how to see and capture the light. This is a small group adventure with limited registration. Capture this tiny town back in time, where only three people live all year round. If you like getting real close to artifact without having to shoot through windows or having to stay behind ropes, you'll really appreciate this well kept secret.
